Sahil Kuchlous

USACO Platinum

I had a really great experience working with Riya. She was always quick to respond to all of my questions, and assigned problems of just the right difficulty to improve. If you’re looking for more structure to your learning, or want advice on how to approach different types of problems, I highly recommend her program.
— Sahil Kuchlous (USACO Platinum)

Jackie Wen

USACO gold

Riya was my teacher for 5 months and with her assistance, I gained a great deal of knowledge. Her classes were interactive and she encouraged me to challenge myself. When I struggled with an algorithm/ problem, Riya would always patiently explain it in a way that I could understand. She was always willing to answer my questions, no matter how insignificant. Due to her patience and intelligence, I’m confident that Riya would be a great teacher for USACO camp.
— Jackie Wen (USACO Gold)

Yash Vij

USACO bronze to usaco silver

Riya has helped me a lot in preparing for USACO and other coding competitions in the Bay Area. She has thoroughly guided me and other members through challenging problems of varying difficulty and explains them in a way that even a novice programmer can understand. With a lot of experience in competitive programming, she teaches a new way of approaching problems, one that is both efficient and elegant in solving even the most difficult questions.
— Yash Vij (USACO Silver)

Anish Rajeev

USACO silver

Riya helps you find the best way to practice(instead of just doing random problems), always giving you challenging problems on topics you have a difficult time with and helping you if you ever get stuck with any problems. She is very helpful and I would definitely recommend the coaching if you want to improve quickly and efficiently.
— Anish Rajeev (USACO Silver)

Students sign up with VPlanet Coding for these 2 things:

be EFFICIENT with your time

Every hour you spend will be getting you closer to your goal division, instead of being spent trying different strategies and reinventing the wheel.

If you can’t solve a problem on your own, reading the solution and implementing it will not lead to much improvement. To get the most out of every problem, you need to figure out how you should have approached the problem in order to get to the next step of the solution on your own, because this knowledge will be helpful for solving a brand new problem in a contest.

It is also imperative that you don’t work on too easy or too hard problems as you don’t learn much from those. Working on problems that are just slightly above your level is where you will get the most improvement.

Study using a proven system to ensure that you don’t waste your time.

Reasonable advancement times

Here is how fast you should be advancing:
Bronze —> 1-3 months —> Silver
Silver —> 1-3 months —> Gold
Gold —> 1-3 months —> Platinum
Platinum —> 5-6 months (but depends on what grade you are in) —> Camp

The large range of time (1-3 months) comes from how much time a student dedicates to USACO. During summer, it should take 1-2 months while during the school year it may take upto 3 months.

Any USACO Silver contestant that prepares the right way should be ready to make USACO Camp in under one year.
